Gallery Show: 怪 2012 @ Gallery G2, Ginza
Bolt the doors and shutter the windows, for 怪 has returned. Growing up in New Jersey, summer, particularly August, was synonymous with barbecues, fireworks, ice cream, jumping through the sprinkler, and profusely sweating through the dwindling days of summer vacation. Creepy crawlies don't much care for the bright sunlight and long-drawn daylight hours.
Here in Japan though, August brings O-bon, the time when one's deceased ancestors come back for a visit. Where the more welcome family spirits wander, the ghoulish and icky creatures shamble not far behind. All profusely sweating, of course.
Get your summer creep on at Gallery G2 in Ginza, the host of 怪, a celebration of the haunted, the macabre, the odd, the weird, the alien, the ghastly, ghostly, fantastic and surreal.
