The Haunted Parade Lurches to Life at Arts Rush Gallery Tokyo
Once again, the creatures call.
Summer in Japan has settled into its annual pattern of heat and humidity, late afternoon thunderstorms, and the all-too-common typhoon. Which makes this the perfect time for monsters!
Personally, if I were to come back from beyond the grave, I think I’d prefer the autumnal chill of All Hallow’s Eve. Beasts raised (from the dead?) in Japan favor August and the O-bon holiday to spook strangers and visit/haunt family. Perhaps a muggy summer night is the exact thing to take off the chill of the netherworld?
The time is also perfect for Arts Rush Gallery’s The Haunted Parade • 百鬼夜行 exhibition, a group show focusing on the dark, creepily beautiful, and monstrously seductive photography, sculpture, paper art, and more from 6 dreadfully talented artists and creators. You should skulk on by if you’re in the area!
